What Xero says about this role

The role / impact

At Xero, we make running a business beautiful, and behind every decision we make for small businesses sits data we trust. This role is where that trust gets built for our HR (People Experience) function. As a People Insights Manager, you'll be the primary analytical partner to HR leadership, creating a single, trusted view of Operational Health that spans workforce health, engagement, talent flows, capacity and productivity, and people related risk.

You'll translate complex people data, including Workday, survey, talent and reward data, into clear, actionable recommendations that shape how Xero plans its workforce. You'll set the standard for how we partner with HR leaders on people analytics, while staying hands on with the data and models that make it possible.

The team & how they connect

You'll sit within G&A Data & Analytics, the team that mobilises trusted data so Finance, HR, Legal, Risk and other corporate functions can make faster, better decisions. This role is dedicated to People Teams, working closely with HR leadership, Finance and G&A Data & Analytics Engineering to build a shared, consistent view of how Xero's people and resources are performing.

Initially, you will focus on:

  • Building a single, trusted suite of People performance views, including scorecards, workforce dashboards and engagement reporting

  • Defining clear metric definitions and guardrails for People KPIs such as headcount, hiring, attrition, mobility and engagement, in partnership with HR and Finance

  • Embedding workforce and people metrics into G&A planning, budgeting and forecasting cycles

  • Lifting data literacy and self-service capability across HR, so teams spend less time wrangling data and more time acting on it

Where and how you can work

This role is based in Melbourne or Sydney working in a hybrid model that combines in office collaboration with the flexibility to work from home. Our boost days bring the team together in person for connection and collaborative work, with the rest of the week flexible to suit how you work best.

Here are some of the things we're looking for, for this role:

  • A strong analytics and data background, with the ability to connect complex people and workforce data to commercial and organisational context

  • You've framed ambiguous people problems before and know how to turn them into clear hypotheses and analytical approaches

  • Comfortable engaging and challenging senior leaders, and able to translate complex insights into simple, compelling terms

  • Familiarity with HR domains such as workforce planning, org design, talent and mobility, engagement analytics and diversity and inclusion

  • Hands-on experience with large, complex datasets on modern cloud platforms, along with BI tools such as Tableau

  • A collaborative approach, with a track record of working across HR, Finance, Product & Technology, Legal and Risk to deliver shared outcomes

Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
