4,671 open AI roles across 192 employers, counted from the job feeds they publish themselves. Shown per employer, because a sector where we track 5 companies and one where we track 35 cannot be compared any other way.

Healthcare & life sciences has 22.8 open AI roles per employer — 1× the rate of the AI and software companies the industry usually counts.

Professional services scores higher still, at 154.9 per employer, but 82.8% of that is one company (Accenture) across 8 employers, so we do not quote it as a rate. Its median employer has 18.

And outside technology, 14% of open AI roles carry titles that never say "AI" — quantitative researcher, clinical informatics, analytics engineer. Inside AI and software it is 4%. Counting only the obvious titles finds AI hiring where it is already obvious.

How to read this

Employers with no open AI role stay in the denominator. Dropping them would be the easiest way to make AI hiring look universal — if an employer only entered the sample once it posted an AI job, the sample could never contain the finding that most employers post none.

Cells marked indicative hold too few employers to read as a measurement. Telecom is one company; most large carriers run applicant tracking systems with no public feed. We publish the figure and the reason it is thin rather than hiding the row.
