The Opportunity

Join Hitachi Energy Research and contribute to the development of next-generation electrical insulation technologies that will shape the future of sustainable energy systems. As a Research Scientist, you will work on complex engineering challenges related to dielectric design, insulation materials, product reliability, and voltage capability, helping to advance the performance and sustainability of energy products and systems.

Working in a highly collaborative international environment, you will partner with global research teams, product development organizations, and business units to develop innovative technologies and solve multidisciplinary engineering challenges. This role offers a unique opportunity to combine scientific research, advanced engineering analysis, and technology development while contributing to the future of high-voltage and energy technologies.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Lead and contribute to R&D projects focused on advanced electrical insulation technologies and multidisciplinary engineering challenges
  • Develop innovative solutions that improve the performance, reliability, and sustainability of energy products and systems
  • Apply advanced engineering, scientific, and simulation-based methods to solve complex challenges involving dielectric phenomena and coupled physical processes
  • Collaborate with global research teams, business units, and product development organizations to address strategic and operational technology needs
  • Evaluate, validate, and implement emerging technologies and engineering solutions for industrial applications
  • Translate technical findings into practical recommendations that support product development and technology roadmaps
  • Contribute to patents, technical reports, scientific publications, and conference presentations
  • Build and maintain collaborations with universities, research institutes, startups, and industrial partners while supporting knowledge sharing and technical leadership

Your Background

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related technical field
  • Proven experience in dielectric phenomena, electrical insulation systems, and technology development or applied R&D activities
  • Strong understanding of interactions between electrical, mechanical, thermal, magnetic, and material aspects of engineering systems
  • Experience with multiphysics analysis, modeling, and simulation; familiarity with tools such as Ansys, COMSOL Multiphysics, MATLAB, or Python is an advantage
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary and international teams
  • Proactive, curious, and eager to learn across multiple technical domains, with fluent written and spoken English

In Addition, the Following Skills Would Be Beneficial for the Role

  • Experience in high-voltage technologies, electrical insulation systems, or electrical design of power equipment
  • Knowledge of materials used in electrical equipment and understanding of their mechanical, thermal, and electrical performance
  • Knowledge of power network business, green energy technologies, and relevant industry standards
  • Interest and potential to develop into future technical, project, or people leadership roles
