Skan AI Raises $63M; Anthropic Adds Watermarks to Claude

A surge of capital into AI that watches how people actually work collides with new rules that make AI visible. Skan AI's $63 million raise puts workplace observation at the center of deployment, promising tools that learn from real workflows and in the process reshape roles. On the other side, Anthropic's decision to watermark responses from Claude aims at transparency and has already stirred debate across classrooms and offices about how AI should be used and disclosed. Across the 43 employers we track, 1,149 AI roles were open as of 2026-07-31. Our model puts new AI jobs created month-to-date at roughly 75,416. Together these signals point to an immediate buildout of teams that can document tasks, stitch AI into daily routines, and prove the provenance of outputs. The tension is clear: observation can unlock efficiency and new specialties, but it also raises questions about surveillance, consent, and what counts as original work. Hiring will favor people who can translate messy processes into data and who can set and enforce usage norms. For workers, the path forward is to get fluent in how their tasks are instrumented and in how AI-generated content will be flagged. The next wave of productivity will be decided not by model benchmarks, but by visibility into work and visibility of AI.
