A $120-per-seat “digital coworker” just walked into the office. SpaceXAI’s Grok Bot, now in beta for select subscribers, puts persistent AI agents on the same budget line as human tools, not headcount. That pricing and positioning sharpen the choice facing managers: buy more seats, or hire more juniors. The bet is that a persistent agent can sit in the background, remember context, and quietly handle coordination and drafting work. Across the 43 employers we track, 1,149 AI roles were open as of 2026-07-31. Our model puts new AI jobs created month-to-date at roughly 69,393. Those numbers say the build-and-govern side of AI work is still expanding even as task automation gets cheaper. Persistence matters: always-on agents can change how teams slice responsibilities, shifting people from execution to supervision, QA, and integration. But “beta for select subscribers” also means controlled rollouts, uneven access, and plenty of process work before scale. For workers, the move is clear—document the value you create, learn to direct agents, and measure outcomes. For employers, the prudent path is to pilot where latency and error tolerance are understood, then decide whether to convert AI seats into fewer hires or higher-leverage roles.
